One of the great Camp Meetings in the IPHC is the annual Spirit Life Ministries Upper South Carolina Conference Camp Meeting 2018, at Beech Springs, South Carolina.
The people come from far and near but especially from the people in the congregations of the Pentecostal Holiness churches in the Upper South Carolina Conference. In the past when Stephanie was alive, Melvine, Greg, Stephanie, and I went every year. We love the great singing of the choir and special singers/groups. We have been blessed by the great preaching. Excitement and joy fills the atmosphere and a sense of great expectancy for a move of God is created. The altar services are filled with people hungry for more of God.
The last time we attended this camp meeting was two days prior to Stephanie's death at Athens Regional Hospital. She wanted to go to the camp meeting although she was very sick, actually too sick to stand for the singing. She had friends there she wanted to see like Traci Richardson, the wife of David Richardson, Jr., with whom they were classmates at Emmanuel College. In addition, Stephanie wanted to see Kelly Stansell, a close friend when the Stansell's were members of our church in Athens, Tarkenton Memorial Church.
Little did Traci Richardson know when she escorted Stephanie to our car after the close of the camp meeting service that would be the last time she would see her until we all get to heaven. We never know. Our lives are like a vapor, here one moment, and gone the next.
The date for this year's camp meeting is August 1-5 August 2018. View the flyer/poster below:
