Jack Foley’s Daughter -- Sonda Foley Boles wrote:
Today we laid my daddy to rest. Ministers Rev. Roger Collins and Rev. Tommy Fuquay, both dear friends of my dad, did an outstanding job remembering their friendships with my dad thru many years. It was very hard, standing behind that casket singing "Celebrate Me Home" with Roger and Amy knowing that we had to let him go, literally. But I know only his body was in that beautiful oak casket . . . because he now walks the streets of gold in the presence of the Lord. Another soldier has fought the good fight, stayed the course and kept the faith . . . "Welcome to Heaven My child," says the Lord.
After two days of celebrating the life of my dad, Rev. Jack Foley, I am in awe of the goodness of God and His faithfulness to us. Wednesday night we had 2 1/4 hours of friends visiting with us and then the celebration service started. Rev. Marion Poythress, the Patrick Springs PH Pastor, Bishop Tommy McGhee, Executive Director of Discipleship Ministries and Vice Chairman the IPHC, in Oklahoma; and Rev. Doyle Marley, Bishop Cornerstone Conference, were the ministers for the service. Their remarks were all different, yet portrayed my dad to a "T." My dad had already preached his funeral by the life he had lived, the countless lives he had touched and his faithfulness to his Lord and Savior. Folks from all 6 Pastorates were present and the "Voice of God" was mentioned numerous times.
Beautiful flowers, beautiful singing and beautiful words all made the evening a true celebration and a mighty tribute to the man of God that was my daddy. Our hearts are overwhelmed with love and appreciation for all who had a part of this night of praise!

It is moments such as these when the broken crevices of your hearts and spirits are cemented with the love and favor of friends. The man, your dad, the pastor and minister to so many left an impact, a legacy, a void, an empty chair, an influence that will never die, but what he did, he took his unblemished character with him and it will shine eternally. What a man of character he was! You are embraced in my heart of prayers.
[Editor's Comment: To my knowledge, I don't think I have ever met Sonda. She is to be commended for writing about her "Daddy." She has helped us all to relive our memory of the Rev. Mr. Jack Foley. I have been informed that Sonda is a close friend of our pastor's wife, Pam Kesling.
I appreciated what Mary Belle Johnson wrote. You can always count on Mary Belle to come through in times like these. She is a saint.
To you Sonda, we send our love, thoughts, prayers, and words of comfort to you and your family. I am glad I got to meet your dad when I was courting Melvine, my wife. Your father had a role of leadership in the Western North Carolina Conference with the youth. He enjoyed teasing Melvine. She was a faithful and loyal member of the Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church, and taught in the Draper Elementary School.
